TripEZ · Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 19, 2026

Your privacy, by design.

TripEZ is built around a simple principle: your travel data belongs to you. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we don't, and how the app works.

Short version: TripEZ stores all your trips, packing lists, and documents on your device only. We have no servers that hold your personal data. We never sell your information to anyone.

👤 Who We Are

TripEZ is an independent iOS app developed by Kaleb Garrison. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at kalebegarrison@gmail.com.

📱 Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is saved locally on your device using iOS's secure storage (AsyncStorage). It never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it.

Deleting the app removes all of this data permanently.

🌐 Third-Party Services We Use

TripEZ connects to the following external services to provide certain features. Each connection is described below.

Service Purpose Data sent Privacy policy
Google Gemini AI Generates personalised packing list suggestions Trip destination, dates, trip type, and travel party composition (e.g. "family with toddler"). No names or contact details. Google Privacy Policy
OpenAI Fallback packing list generation if Gemini is unavailable Same as above OpenAI Privacy Policy
Open-Meteo Weather forecasts for your destination Geographic coordinates of the trip destination (latitude/longitude). No personal identifiers. Open-Meteo Terms
Nominatim / OpenStreetMap Location search and address autocomplete The text you type into the location search field (e.g. "Paris" or a street address). No account or device identifiers are attached. OSM Privacy Policy
Expo / EAS App delivery and over-the-air updates Standard app update check metadata (app version, platform). No personal data. Expo Privacy Policy

We do not use any advertising networks, cross-app tracking SDKs, or analytics services.

🔔 Push Notifications

If you enable trip reminders, TripEZ schedules local notifications on your device. These are generated entirely on-device — no notification server receives your trip details. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings → TripEZ.

🤖 AI-Generated Packing Lists

When you create a trip, TripEZ may send a prompt to Google Gemini or OpenAI to generate a personalised packing list. The prompt contains:

This data is processed under Google's and OpenAI's respective privacy policies and data processing terms. Neither service is permitted to use this data to train their models under our usage terms. You can turn off AI packing suggestions by using manual item entry only.

👶 Children's Privacy

TripEZ does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation or collect any identifying information. If you believe a child has inadvertently provided personal information, please contact us and we will address it promptly.

🗄️ Data Retention & Deletion

All data stored by TripEZ lives on your device. To delete it:

Data sent to AI services (Gemini / OpenAI) for packing list generation is processed transiently and not stored by TripEZ. Refer to each provider's retention policy for details on their end.

🔒 Security

Sensitive documents (passports, insurance cards, emergency contacts) are protected by a PIN code you set in the app. All local data is stored in iOS's app sandbox, which is isolated from other apps. We recommend keeping your device PIN enabled for an additional layer of protection.

📋 Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. For material changes, we'll provide notice within the app.
